There’s Still Time To Join NH News Collaborative

Call or email Nancy West at 603-738-5635 or nancywestnews@gmail.com for more information.

A number of newspapers and news outlets, NHPBS and Franklin Pierce University have created a new Collaborative that will work together to maximize reporting and impact on complex social problems in New Hampshire.

We are pleased to say we have secured the resources to hire a part-time project editor and launch the New Hampshire News Collaborative with a $45,000 grant from the Solutions Journalism Network (SJN).   Based on input received at two NH Media Summits held this summer, and a follow-up survey, we have proposed to jumpstart the Collaborative with coordinated reporting and audience engagement on behavioral health challenges facing NH.

The serious interest already expressed by a mix of news organizations was key to our ability to secure this funding. The detailed reporting and engagement plan will be shaped by the Collaborative members, with the help of the project editor. Participating newsrooms will contribute reporting that fits their mission, audience, and medium.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in participating in the Collaborative.   Our first organizational meeting will be held on August 24th.

We’d also appreciate the help of the New Hampshire Press Association in circulating information about the project editor position. We are seeking an experienced, dynamic individual who will work part-time an average of 20 hours a week at a salary to be agreed upon under the direction of the executive board as overall editor and manager of the New Hampshire News Collaborative. The editor will report to the executive board, which is comprised of one representative from each project participant.

Resume and cover letter should be emailed to: NHNC2018@gmail.com

We are looking forward to getting started!
